At Cultural Tours UK, accessible from culturaltoursuk.com, your privacy is something we take seriously. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect any personal information you share with us — whether you’re reading our guides, signing up for our newsletter, or getting in touch about a property or a tour that caught your eye.
If something here doesn’t sit right, or you’d like to ask a question, you can always reach out directly. Our contact details are at the bottom of the page.
Who we are
Cultural Tours UK is a small editorial project run by Eleanor Voss. What began as an exploration of historic streets and architecture through walking tours and short courses has gradually grown into something wider: we now write about the experience of living in cultural cities, the character of heritage homes, and what it means to own or restore a listed property. The website is a personal, research-driven resource for readers who share a curiosity about old buildings — whether they’re visiting, learning, or thinking about putting down roots.
Our audience is global, but many of our readers are based in India, drawn to the UK’s architectural story and the possibility of owning a piece of it. That cultural link is important to us, and we work to make sure our content remains thoughtful, accurate, and never invasive.
What information we collect
We only collect information that you choose to give us. This typically happens when:
- You sign up to receive our occasional newsletter or email updates
- You fill out a contact form to ask a question or request a property viewing guide
- You leave a comment on one of our articles (if comments are enabled at the time)
- You send us an email directly
The personal data we might hold is minimal: your name, email address, and whatever details you voluntarily include in a message. We do not collect sensitive personal data, and we never request financial or identity documents.
Information collected automatically
Like most small websites, we use a basic analytics tool to understand how visitors move through our content — which pages are read most, how readers arrive, and whether they find what they need. This tool may collect non-personal, aggregated data such as IP addresses (anonymised), browser type, device information, and pages visited. We do not use this to identify individual users; it simply helps us improve the site and make sure our stories find the people they’re written for.
Cookies
This site uses a small number of functional and analytical cookies. Some of these are strictly necessary to make the site work properly. Others help us see how articles are being read and which topics resonate.
We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing pixels, or third-party tracking that builds profiles for ad targeting. If that ever changes — for example, if we decide to partner with a like-minded heritage publication — we will update this policy and give you clear notice and the option to opt out.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Just be aware that some parts of the site might behave a little differently without them.
How we use your information
Any personal data you share with us is used only for the reason you provided it. In practice, that means:
- To send you the newsletter you signed up for (with a clear unsubscribe link in every email)
- To reply to a question or enquiry you’ve sent
- To send you a resource or guide you requested, such as a property-buying overview or a neighbourhood profile
- Rarely, to ask for feedback if you’ve been a long-time reader and we think your perspective would genuinely help us improve
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to anyone. We don’t share it with third parties except where strictly necessary to run the site (for example, a trusted email delivery provider that processes newsletter distribution on our behalf, under strict data processing agreements).
Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for. Newsletter subscribers remain on the list until they unsubscribe. Email correspondence is retained for a reasonable period in case a conversation continues, but is periodically deleted if it has become inactive.
If at any point you’d like us to delete your information from our records, just send us a note and we’ll take care of it promptly.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law — and because we believe in doing the decent thing — you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you
- Ask for corrections if any information is inaccurate
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time (for example, by unsubscribing from emails)
- Object to certain processing activities
To exercise any of these rights, simply contact us using the details below. We won’t ask for proof of identity unless it’s genuinely necessary, and we’ll respond within the timeframe required by law.
Links to other sites
Our articles sometimes link to external resources — estate agents listing historic homes, heritage organisations, architectural archives — that we think will add value. These sites have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to read them if you plan to engage further. We aren’t responsible for how those third parties handle your data.
Children’s privacy
Our content is written for adults — typically readers with an interest in travel, architecture, and historic property. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 16. If we become aware that a minor has provided personal information without parental consent, we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
As the website evolves — maybe we add a new type of guide, or the way readers interact with us changes — this privacy policy may need to be updated. The latest version will always be available at this page, with the date revised at the top. If the changes are significant, we’ll make a note of it in our newsletter or add a brief notice at the top of the homepage.
